After traumatic and overwhelming experiences a lot of people feel lost, confused, depressed, anxious and have trouble sleeping. These experiences impact their relationships with their partner, their children, their friends and those closest to them. These experiences also reduce their quality of life. I use a three phase safe trauma treatment approach to help people heal and regain a high quality of life in a way that is safe, secure and not overwhelming. I allow people to heal at their own pace and empower them to achieve the quality of life they desire.
My specializations are cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), solution focused brief therapy (sfbt) and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR). These therapies may be used individually or in combination to best meet your needs and goals for therapy. I’m happy to make an individualized approach also.
Some factors that make my practice different than others is my long history of specializing in traumatic stress. My research focused on how trauma impacts emotional development, my professional experience includes working in hospitals, family homes, treatment centres, employee assistance programs and starting my own private practice.
